Angelicus,
a truly boutique winery

Welcome to John and Sue Ward’s Angelicus Wines, one of Western Australia’s truly boutique wineries situated in the beautiful Geographe Wine Region in the South West of Western Australia.

We believe good wine is made in the vineyard and so we have taken great care to choose grape varieties that are well suited to our tiny vineyards' steep granitic hillside site.  As our vineyard ages the wines that are made from our fruit are becoming more exciting and they are proving very popular in both Australia and the United Kingdom.

  • 2017 Harvest looking good

The 2017 harvest is underway at the Angelicus vineyard and this year we are excited to be making some wine in some new 800 litre amphora. Using these specialist Italian terracotta vessels for some of our winemaking it will enhance the flavours and textures of the fruit from our terrific site.

  • Silver Medal to 2016 Verdejo

Our 2016 Verdejo has received a SILVER Medal at the 2016 Geographe Wine Show in the Alternative White Wine Class. We were thrilled to be the highest rated Geographe wine in the class that is open to the whole of Western Australia!
Sarah Ahmed, The Wine Detective, was also impressed.

  • Tempranillo shines in UK

The Independent in the UK listed its best 14 Tempranillo and our 2014 Tempranillo made the cut sitting at number 5 in the company of wines from around the world. Tempranillo from the Geographe Region is gaining well deserved recognition in the UK.
